Calendula Loaf Lotion Bars – DIY All Natural

I’ve been meaning to post this for SO long. This is one of my favourite go-to products that I have made. We use this for nearly everything.

Calendula Lotion Bars - DIY

Here is a small list of what we use it for:

  • rash / bumps
  • dry / itchy skin
  • an all over moisturizer
  • facial mask before bed (helps smooth lines and clear any skin issues)
  • lip chap
  • cuts and scrapes

Because this is infused with calendula oil it has extra healing properties along with the natural moisturizing elements.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 part Calendula Infused Oil (Infusing your own oils)
  • Calendula petals (more for décor topper – optional)
  • 1 part Coconut Oil
  • 1 tsp Vitamin E (optional)
  • 1 part Beeswax (more will make the bar more firm, less will make it softer)

(example – 1/2 cup calendula oil, 1/2 cup coconut oil, 1/2 cup beeswax. – mostly equal parts works well but you can play around with what consistency you like best.)

For an extra moisture boost, you can add in some shea butter, or cocoa butter.

Tools:

  • Pan on stove or double boiler
  • loaf pan or moulds of choice
  • plastic wrap or a storage container.

I got a tin foil loaf pan from the dollar store and lined it with more tin foil to help pop the loaf out easier.

Melt & Pour

add your ingredients to your pan or melting pot. Once everything is combined you can pour into your loaf tin or moulds of choice.

Once you pour the mixture into your mould, you can add some calendula petals to the top if you’d like. (I waited a few minutes for it to start hardening a bit so the petals didn’t sink)

I cut mine into bars and individually wrapped them & stored the extras in the fridge.

To Use:

Either rub the bar between hands to transfer some of the moisturizer OR rub right onto skin where needed.

I use this all over my face including my lips, neck and chest. I usually use it at night because I put so much on, it takes a while to sink in. (If you use less and rub it in, it’ll blend quite easily.)
