An easy homemade fudge recipe, that gets dipped in chocolate candy coating, and topped with sprinkles. Makes a great gift for chocolate lovers!
Seriously… Oh my goodness! These were such a delicious treat! They look like you bought them from a candy shop! But… made right in your kitchen. They’re very simple to make. Made with only a handful of ingredients.
Great for Birthdays, School parties, family gatherings, and no reason at all! Let’s not forget about the holiday season…
Here’s what I did:
I lined an 8 x 8 inch pan with foil. Placed the pan off to the side. I poured the can of sweetened condensed milk, and chocolate chips, into a medium saucepan. I melted the mixture over a low heat. Once the chocolate chips have melted, I turned off the heat. I stirred in the vanilla. Making sure the chocolate mixture was smooth, and no lumps remained. I immediately poured the chocolate mixture into the foil lined pan. I evenly, spread out the mixture. I placed the pan in the refrigerator until set. Once the fudge has set up, I removed the fudge from the pan (using the foil to lift out of pan). I sliced the fudge into 1 inch squares. I placed the sliced fudge pieces back into the refrigerator.
I simmered water in a small saucepan, and placed a metal bowl on top (similar to double boiler method). I chopped half a package of chocolate candy coating, and placed in the metal pan. Stirring the candy coating until it was all melted. I used a tooth pick to dip a fudge square into the melted chocolate coating. I had a non-stick mat placed on the counter, to set dipped fudge on. Quickly, add the sprinkles on top, before the fudge truffle sets up. Allow the dipped fudge truffles to set up and harden, before attempting to remove. I continued this process until all the fudge truffles were finished. Fudge truffles can be stored on the counter, loosely covered.
Fudge Truffles – Makes about 42 (1 inch squares)
- 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 1/2 cups semi – sweet chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 (20 oz.) package chocolate candy coating/almond bark
Step One: Line an 8 x 8 inch pan with foil, set aside. Heat the sweetened condensed milk, and both types of chocolate chips, in a medium saucepan. Over a low heat, stirring occasionally. Turn off the heat, once the chocolate chips have melted. Stir in the vanilla, and make sure the chocolate mixture is smooth. Pour the chocolate fudge mixture into the foil lined pan. Spread out evenly.
Step Two: Place the pan in the refrigerator, until fudge has set up. Once the fudge is firm, remove it from the pan. Use the foil to pull out the fudge. Slice into 1 inch squares. Place the sliced fudge square back in the refrigerator.
Step Three: Fill a small sauce pan with about an inch of water, and simmer. Place a metal bowl on top of saucepan. Chop the package of chocolate candy coating. Place the chopped pieces into the metal bowl, over the simmering water. The candy coating will slowly start to melt. Stirring until melted. Use a toothpick to dip a fudge square into the chocolate candy coating. Place on a non-stick cooking mat, or foil. Quickly, add sprinkles on top. Allow the fudge truffles to set up and get firm.
Note: You can heat the chocolate candy coating in the microwave. It is best to work in small batches, with the fudge. Keep the remaining fudge in the refrigerator, until ready to dip. The fudge squares are easier to work with when chilled.
